What brought you to writing?

I’m not quite sure how to describe what happened when I found writing. I think it came to me because I needed it, and the written word had always been a way I could express myself where verbal communication let me down. It was a busy morning with the kids when a poem popped into my head quite unexpectedly. My husband and I had both recently gone through a difficult time with our jobs, being made redundant and searching for what would come next. I am so grateful it came to me that day as it gave me an outlet and a purpose. It has brought many wonderful people into my life and been a therapist when I’ve needed one

Who or what inspires you?

Wow, there are so many people and amazing writers who inspire me. Although I think I have to say my kids are my biggest inspiration. They’ve brought sides out in me that wouldn’t have been there otherwise. There is the weird, goofy, crazy side. Another which I describe at the moment as the full Karen moment. I am reclaiming the term which is often used to describe someone doing something bad and using it when I am driven and passionate to put good information out there. They are what’s driven me to write Bi The Way. They have given me causes to want to write about. They’ve rekindled and sparked my childhood imagination leading me on all kinds of wonderful adventures. But none of this would have been possible without the encouragement of a few special people in my life who told me to go for it and that I could do it, even when I doubted myself. They continue to be incredible friends and I would be lost without them. They know who they are!

What is the one thing you have always wanted to try?

As someone who suffers from anxiety, many aspects of my life are governed by a strong desire to avoid trying things! It’s quite a battle to just do regular stuff and not become overwhelmed. If this wasn’t an issue, there are loads of things I’d love to try. Doing more videos with characters in. Travelling more. Going to more places by myself. Being more confident. I should probably stop there as you just wanted one!

If you could live anywhere where would it be?

I love where we live but if the house could magically be made a bit larger, with an office, a larger garden and perhaps someone else to do the cleaning that would be fantastic!

What is the one question you would most like to be asked?

Q-How about this- Is my dog secretly my best friend?

A- absolutely
